Medisalic ointment is a skin ointment containing Clobetasol Propionate and Salicylic Acid. Clobetasol Propionate is an analog of prednisolone having a high degree of glucocorticoid activity and a slight degree of mineralocorticoid activity. Salicylic Acid is a keratolytic and antiseptic agent.
MECHANISM OF ACTION:
Topical steroids control the biosynthesis of potent mediators of inflammation such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes by inhibiting the release of their common precursor, arachidonic acid. Corticosteroids are also thought to act by the induction of phospholipase A2 inhibitory proteins. Topical salicylic acid has keratolytic properties as well as bacteriostatic and fungicidal actions.
INDICATIONS:
Eczema, impetigo, napkin rash, untreated fungal or bacterial infections.
SIDE EFFECTS:
Thinning of skin, striae (like stretch marks), bruising, discolouration, or thin spidery blood vessels.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
Take a small amount of the ointment. Apply the preparation thinly to the affected areas only, not more than twice a day and massage it gently into the skin until it disappears. Wash your hands after the usage.
Store in a cool place, away from direct sunlight.
Usage:
This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and gently massage the ointment. Wash your hands after applying, unless hands are the affected area.
